Fast bowler Kemar Roach claimed 6-48 as West Indies eked out a narrow first-innings lead on day two of the second cricket Test at Queen's Park on Saturday. Bangladesh, 35-1 overnight, was bowled out for 232 in reply to the home team's 237. Wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim topscored with 48 while Raqibul Hasan contributed 44. West Indies, trailing 0-1 in the two-match series, reached 56-1 in its second innings by stumps, an overall advantage of 61 with three days remaining. The 21-year-old Roach, in only his second Test, sliced through the Bangladeshis in a fast, probing display. “It feels really good to put in a good performance. It's a magical moment,” the Barbadian said after play. “I dreamed about taking wickets for the West Indies and I did.” Roach, who took three wickets in each innings of the opening Test, again celebrated each of his outs with a kiss of the West Indies badge on his shirt. “It's a passion for West Indies cricket,” he explained. “I really wanted to play West Indies cricket for a long time and I'm glad to be here.” Roach struck in the day's fourth over when nightwatchman Enamul Haque Jr. deflected down the leg side on 13. Wicketkeeper Chadwick Walton launched himself to his left to grasp a brilliant, two-handed catch, one of five in the innings for the gloveman. Tamim Iqbal and fellow left-hander Junaid Siddique added 24 for the third wicket before both fell in the space of two runs. Tamim, after compiling 37 off 59 balls with six boundaries, nibbled outside the off stump and provided a third catch to Walton off David Bernard's swing bowling.
