The 4th Jeddah film festival scheduled to start Sunday has been canceled, Mamdouh Salem, director of Jeddah film festival and filmmaker Rowad Media for Media Production & Distribution, told Saudi Gazette. The week-long festival was to have featured a competition between eight Gulf feature films – two from Saudi Arabia itself – and show dozens more shorts by local and regional filmmakers. “The guests who arrived from different Gulf countries will go back in a day or two,” Salem said. “The government permission for the film festival was delayed. In fact the government has ordered to stop all film festivals and I don't know what will happen in the future,” he said.
