Health Affairs in Taif is investigating the death of a young man who was admitted to a hospital in Khamis Mushayt for hemorrhoid treatment and whose medical record was subsequently lost. Hizam Al-Qahtani died at the hospital in early July, leading his brother to raise the issue with the governorate of Asir. Head of Health Affairs in the region Abdullah Al-Wade'iy said an investigation had failed to recover the file and that the Director of Medical Registers was fined ten days' pay. “He handed over the file to the Personnel Department without registering its receipt,” Al-Wade'iy said. “He also failed to register the record when it was filed with the Medical Registers Section.” An employee at the Medical Reports Section was fined the same amount for making an illegitimate request for the file from the Medical Registers Section.
