The Ministry of Health on Wednesday announced that 21 new cases of swine flu had been registered in the Kingdom, seven of them in pupils from the Future Generation International School for Filipinos in Riyadh that was closed Monday. The other 14 new cases were detected in six male and two female Saudis and six foreign nationals, three males and three females, bringing the total number of registered cases in the Kingdom to 253. The Ministry of Health added in its statement that 199 persons had so far made complete recovery from the virus and returned to their daily lives and all other cases were responding well to the treatment. The MoH has been monitoring the new cases through quarantine and by offering proper medical care, Dr. Khalid Al-Marghalani, spokesperson of the ministry, said on Tuesday. The MoH is planning to launch a huge health awareness campaign targeting the schools including international community schools, right after Ramadan, he said. “Since most of the schools are now closed, the MoH will launch a huge national health awareness campaign right after the holy month of Ramadan,” Dr. Marghalani said.
