The Yanbu National Petrochemical Company (Yansab) says it has started up production at its SR18.75 billion ($5 billion) petrochemical complex. Yansab, a unit of the Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (Sabic), said Wednesday the complex in the industrial city of Yanbu has an annual petrochemical production capacity of 4 million metric tons. It will produce a range of products, including ethylene, propylene, and polyethylene. The complex, which was initially slated to go online last year, is one of several major new projects being developed in the OPEC powerhouse. King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, on Tuesday inaugurated some SR45 billion (12 billion) in projects in Yanbu. Sabic, one of the world's largest chemical makers, holds a 51 percent stake in Yansab.
