Suraisiry, Minister of Transport, has promised rent-a-car investors to find urgent solutions for the difficulties that they are facing and to place all resources at the disposal of investors in this sector. While chairing the periodic meeting of the Transport and Car Renting Committee at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) at the weekend, Sa'eed Bin Ali Al-Bassami, Deputy Chairman of the committee, discussed the background of unified insurance in car renting and in transport of all kinds tabled by the JCCI. The committee also discussed police regulations covering areas for keeping impounded cars and levying fees. Regulations call for a fee of SR75 for transporting cars from one place to another in addition to an impounding fee of SR100 for 30 days only. The meeting was held at the JCCI headquarters in the presence Captain Lu'ay Qadhi, Director of Land Services at JCCI, Antonios Paulus Hanna, Insurance Consultant at the JCCI, a number of members of the committee, specialists in the transport industry and investors in the field. The meeting also tackled enquiries by some investors on continuing implementation of the “Shumoos Security System”, which involves entering the renter's name and identity card number in the computer for different security authorities.
