The ring leader of a gang, who was well-known for posting his stunt driving videos on YouTube, fell into the hands of Riyadh Police. Preliminary investigations showed that the alleged culprit was involved in the burglary of several homes and the theft of cars, weapons and ammunition from different locations. The thief was famous among teenagers for his daring stunt driving escapades which could be seen on the Internet. However, investigations showed that some of the cars that appeared on YouTube videos had actually been stolen. In a statement issued on Saturday, Riyadh Police gave details of the arrest of the YouTube stunt driving thief. They said that police stations received a number of reports of car thefts, stolen firearms and jewelry from homes in different parts of the city. A Criminal Investigations Department (CID) unit studied the crimes, enumerated the stolen items, and studied the pattern of the crimes and the alleged culprits' behavior. Also, security personnel watched the videos posted on Internet sites, succeeded in identifying the ringleader of the gang, and managed to arrest him. The man admitted the charges against him, led the police to the place where he had hidden the stolen items and identified the homes he had targeted as well as some of his accomplices. Maj. Gen. Abdullah Al-Shahrani, Director of Riyadh Police, urged security agencies to complete the investigation procedures and compare the crimes to which the thief has confessed with reports received by the police stations.
