A group of 20 talented Saudi students will get a chance to attend a training camp at the English Premier League side Arsenal's facility in Britain.
The 20 schoolchildren were chosen from among one million footballers at the end of Soccer School Tournament sponsored in Saudi Arabia earlier this year by Etihad Etisalat (Mobily) in cooperation with Ministry of Education, said Humoud Al-Ghobaini, Senior Corporate Communications Manager, Mobily.
The 20 budding footballers between the age group of 10 and 15 will fly to London on July 19 for a two-week training camp, he said.
Mobily's participation in creating world-class players who might later become the mainstay for future formation of Saudi national soccer team was part of the company's corporate social responsibility, he said.
He said Mobily will fully finance the 14-day training camp, which include all the training sessions for players, team officials and coaches with the cream of British soccer stars, he said.
Players will also take part in Arsenal's international tournament for Under-17 players from all over the world, he added.
Al-Ghobaini said Mobily had set up a comprehensive program for the team that represent Mobily Stars School. “With the kind of professional training these students will get at Arsenal, Mobily believes in creating world-class players who might become the future of Saudi national soccer team,” he said.
Besides, training the Saudis will also tour the British capital London, with its distinguished museums and distinctive landmarks.
The 20 students before leaving for London will undergo a three-day preparatory training camp in Riyadh, which is aimed checking their fitness and familiarization with the aspects of the UK camp, he said.
This is Mobily's third sponsorship of its kind after the first batch of Saudis sent to get training at Spain's Barcelona and with Milan in Italy. Some of the students who participated in those camps were later signed with renowned local clubs including Al-Hilal, Al-Nasr, Al-Etihad and Al
