Prince Muhammad Bin Nawwaf Bin Abdul Aziz, Saudi ambassador to the United Kingdom and Ireland, reviewed bilateral relations and notable recent international developments with Irish President Mary McAleese. Prince Muhammad paid the visit to the president on the occasion of the end of his work as a non-resident ambassador to Ireland, a position he had occupied since 2005. A statement by the Saudi embassy said the Saudi-Irish relations have vastly developed in political, economic and educational fields. The statement added the volume of trade exchange between the two countries reached £412 million in 2008, which is about 10 percent higher than 2007. The volume is expected to increase in the future given the growth of investment exchange and the number of Irish companies investing in the Kingdom.
