It was revenge that drove the killer of the male nurse to commit the heinous crime at King Abdul Aziz Hospital in Makkah last Friday, informed sources said on Sunday. Abdul Qader Al-Muhabi, psychiatric male nurse, was shot dead in the hospital by Fahd Al-Rehaili, 22, because he was “maltreating” the latter in the hospital's Mental Health Department about two years ago. The killer, according to sources, told investigators that wild thoughts overpowered him for several days before he plotted to actually kill the nurse. The alleged culprit explained the detailed planning for the crime. He said he started remaining absent from home and traveled to Jeddah and drove his brother's car to Riyadh where he was able to steal a machine gun from his brother's home and return immediately to Makkah to carry out his crime after planning meticulously for it. The alleged culprit said he was able to know the nurse's duty hours after visiting the hospital a day before the murder. He chose Friday dawn to end the nurse's life. He knocked at the door of the nurse's room and surprised him with a hail of deadly bullets. Afterwards he started firing randomly in order to create panic in the hospital. Sources said during investigations the gunman showed signs of being a psychiatric case as he was mumbling unintelligible words and many times he refused to answer the questions. However, at the same time there were a few instances when he would answer questions easily. During such periods his answers were logical and rational, but suddenly he would revert to his psychological state that was difficult to deal with. Besides this, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) completed on Sunday collecting evidences and samples at the scene of the crime. Meanwhile, the Commission for Investigation and Prosecution on Sunday brought the alleged culprit, who is being held at Al-Tan'eem Police Station, before a Mental Health and Shariah Committee to verify his mental state in preparation for referring him to the Mental Health Hospital in Taif.
