The women's wing of ‘Thanima'– a socio-cultural organization in the Kingdom for Indian expatriates, conducted a seminar on the topic “Environmental issues and the future of our planet.” The seminar was unique as it was organized and conducted by women only. The speakers, Sree Devi Menon, Principal, Al-Khozama International School, Dammam; Rubi Joseph, one of the most senior teachers of the International Indian School, Dammam; Nandini Mohan, Joint Secretary of ‘Navodaya Kudumbavedi', yet another social organization for Indian expats; and Sarabai Saifudheen, senior teacher at International Indian School, Jubail, spoke about the pivotal role women have to play to protect the environment and save the earth. All the speakers laid emphasis on educating the new generation about eco-friendly development because development based on exploiting Mother Nature has led to the current environmental problems facing the world. The seminar was chaired by Aneesa Shanawaz and was concluded by Thasneem Anwar, Thanima women's wing coordinator. Rayhana Salam welcomed the guests and audience and Saneeja Sagheer gave the vote of thanks. Prayer and compeering was done by Fasina Basheer.
