THE British Council in Jeddah recently held an event entitled ‘Planet needs you' to mark the World Environment Day. The program aimed at increasing awareness about the environment, ways to preserve it, the use of natural resources, explanation of consumer habits and development of greenery. Students from Little House, Jeddah - Sara Al- Biladi, Hajer Al- Ilmi, Sara Nolati, and Lora Bakalka - gave presentations on related topics. “The event sought to create awareness about various environmental friendly processes, particularly about the threats of climate change, the phenomenon of global warming, and environmental pollution,” said Diana Rayan, supervisor of the event. She said a film shown during the event dealt with the impact of environmental pollution on various aspects of life. “The film shed light on the different methods for recycling waste materials, and for manufacturing environmentally-friendly products. This contributes to a green living,” she explained Abir Al-Ilmi, director of the social development programs at the British Council, honored the student participants of the program.
