The Kingdom has instituted a one million riyal Sports Excellence Prize on the directives of King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. It will be awarded to the sports clubs which win three international official tournaments in different sports in the same season. The winner will receive the Shield of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in addition to the cash prize of SR1 million. The prize has been announced to give incentives to Saudi clubs and athletes to do well in their fields of excellence. The Kingdom has also recently launched “Olympic Falcon Program - London 2012” in a bid to increase awareness of Saudi athletes across a broad range of sports.
