Parents and pupils at a girls' school in the Al-Rabwa district of the capital have expressed their fears of swine flu after it was discovered last week that a pupil from the school had been infected. Parents have criticized authorities for failing to medically examine other pupils and staff after the discovery of the case, with officials at the Ministry of Education saying that only four pupils were isolated, and all of them were found to be in good health following examination. The pupils were reportedly examined confidentially to prevent other students from panicking. The pupil who sparked the fears, and who is believed to have contracted the virus from contact with an infected person who had recently arrived from abroad, is currently in hospital and under supervision as she sits her school examinations in isolation.
