The two Korean goodwill mission ships left Jeddah Islamic Port for Italy Tuesday after a four-day program of joint training cooperation with the Saudi Navy. On Sunday, the Korean Task Group held a reception on board one of the ships in honor of Saudi Navy officials, Korean citizens and diplomats of different countries working in Saudi Arabia. “It is an honor for me to deliver a speech on the occasion of the goodwill visit of the Republic of Korea Navy Cruise Training Task Group to Jeddah,” the Consul General of the Republic of Korea, Dal Jun-han. said on the cultural night held on board the ship. “First, I would like to welcome the Commander, Admiral Kim, the 630 crew members and 120 midshipmen. And also I would like to extend sincere thanks to all of you for participating at this reception on board.” Giving a brief summary on the two vessels, he said, the visit of the Korea Navy Task Group boosts the understanding of the cultures of the two countries. “This morning, there was a Korean traditional percussion quartet performance, taekwondo demonstration, Naval band performance, etc. at the Saudi Arabia Navy West Fleet auditorium,” the Consul General added. Admiral Kim Dong-kyun, Commander of the Navy vessels, hoped that the visit would promote and strengthen relations between the two countries. A delegation of the Korean Task Group paid a goodwill visit Tuesday morning to the Jeddah Mayoralty and met with Adel Faqih, Jeddah Mayor. The visit of the Korean ships was part of the Korean program to train new navy lieutenants. Over the last four days, the Koreans have conducted training events with their Saudi counterparts reflecting the cooperation and strong ties between the two countries.
