Several Pakistan People's Party (PPP) MPs and ministers have complained to President Asif Ali Zardari against Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, insiders say. One of the main grumbles of these MPs and ministers is that the prime minister is quick to take care of the demands of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders and others but doesn't pay heed to the PPP legislators, a senior official working with Zardari told the Saudi Gazette. Zardari generally counsels these complaining lawmakers to bear with the prime minister, emphasizing that Gilani has his own “parliamentary compulsions and obligations,” said the source. Zardari is said to have told the PPP MPs and ministers that Gilani was required to pay special attention to the main opposition party, the PML-N, because its aggressive attitude would affect the functioning of the government. Another senior official, privy to the high-level goings-on at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, said that at times the president did talk to the prime minister on certain demands projected by the PPP MPs. However, he said Zardari pointed out to his party MPs that sometimes Gilani has to also issue certain statements, which were not always appreciated at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, to somehow satisfy different opposition groups. The president felt that the prime minister's good relations with the PML-N were conducive for the government.
