After a recent joint announcement by BAE Systems-British Council that awarded scholarships to 26 Saudi academics to study in British universities more Saudis are set to benefit from a similar program launched by another multinational company. ABB Saudi Arabia said it will soon announce the names of winners of its scholarship program for engineering students to study in Swedish universities. The company launched the higher education scholarship program for Saudi engineering students last year and has received a tremendous response, as around 150 applicants from various universities in the Kingdom applied for this year's program, said Zeid Al-Rumaihi, Group Human Resources Manager of the company, sponsor of the scholarship program. “The company will soon announce the winners of this year's scholarship program offered to the Saudi engineering students,” said Al-Rumaihi. The response to this year's scholarship program was overwhelming, he said adding that more students have been applying online. It was an excellent opportunity for Saudi students to pursue higher studies in engineering outside the Kingdom, said Al-Rumaihi. Students who won the scholarships last year have been pursuing their master's degree at Goteborg University in Sweden, he said. They (students) upon completion of their studies could either seek employment at ABB Saudi Arabia or work elsewhere, he said.
