Knowledge is essential for the growth and development of a nation, said Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz, Second Deputy Premier and Interior Minister, who is also the President of the Supreme Council of Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS). “Without knowledge and sciences, we cannot achieve what has been achieved by others,” Prince Naif said while patronizing a graduation ceremony of a new batch of students of faculties of higher studies, training, criminal evidences' sciences and languages at the university Tuesday night. “Our ambitions are unlimited as regards matching the scientific development,” he said. Prince Naif highlighted the good reputation earned by NAUSS and said it has become a center for knowledge and attractive facility for researchers. He noted that the university was working to broaden its activities and to attract more students. Congratulating the graduates, Prince Naif expressed the hope that they would positively contribute to the service of society. He underlined the importance of adherence to the religious teachings and loyalty to the homeland and rulers. Prince Naif pointed out that the youth constitutes the most important resource for any country. He said the Kingdom faced challenges to undermine its security and stability and impede the wheel of development, but with the grace of Allah Almighty and the directives of the wise leadership and the sincere performance of its sons as well as the responsibility shouldered by the security men, the Kingdom has overcome all difficulties. Speaking on the occasion, Ant?nio Guterres, UN Higher Commissioner for Refugees, said the Kingdom had been playing a pioneering role in the field of humanitarian charitable work, and lauded the significant role being played by NAUSS. Regional representative for the UN's anti-drugs and crime office in Cairo, Mohammed Abdulaziz, praised the scientific programs being carried out by NAUSS and said the university had become one of the networks of the UN for criminal justice and combating crime. Dr. Mohammed Yahya Matar, speaking on behalf of Johns Hopkins University, hailed the Kingdom's role in combating human trafficking and said Johns Hopkins University has signed an agreement with NAUSS for cooperation in various scientific programs, notably in the field of combating human trafficking. Peter Colgin, conveyed to Prince Naif the greetings of the director general of the International Agency for Atomic Energy (IAEA) Mohammed AlBaradei and his blessings to the existing cooperation between IAEA and NAUSS. Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Ghamdi, NAUSS President, called for a successful and comprehensive vision for global security taking into account the developments and future challenges.
