Six members of a gang of car thieves have received sentences of between two and ten years' prison and between 300 and 1,500 lashes for the theft and the dangerous manner in which they conducted their crimes. The gang stole vehicles by crashing into the back of them, waiting until the drivers had descended to inspect the damage, and then driving off in their cars. The four Saudis and two persons of African nationality altered the stolen vehicles at repair garages in order to sell them on, and had reportedly repeated their tactic on at least 13 occasions.
