The Administrative Court in Tabuk on Saturday absolved members of the Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (the Hai'a) of causing the death of a man and a woman in March last year. Sulaiman Al-Anezi, chief of the Hai'a branch, said the verdict has also absolved the Hai'a men of abuse of power. The man and woman had died on Madina-Tabuk road following a head-on collision between their car and a truck coming from the opposite direction. Eyewitnesses had reported that Commission members were involved in car-chasing the victims, which allegedly led to the accident. This was denied by the Hai'a. Commission members are not authorized to chase suspects who flee arrest.
