PAKISTANI aircraft engineers are rated as some of the best in the world, said renowned Pakistani aeronautical engineer Abdus Sattar Chandio, who was speaking at the ‘Annual Seminar – 2009' of the Institution of Engineers Pakistan–Saudi Arabian Center (IEP-SAC) in Riyadh recently. Sattar currently heads the training division at the National Airlines Services, also known as NAS Air. “The engineer on board has a difficult life inside the aircraft as he has to be alert all the time, keeping a careful eye over all the parameters and data concerning the aircraft and its flight,” explained Sattar in his lecture entitled ‘Role of engineers in commercial aircraft takeoff and landing', which was followed by a question-answer session conducted by Dr Nazar Malik, former general secretary of IEP-SAC. The program commenced with the recitation of the Holy Qur'an by Eng. Sirajul Hoda. Eng. Mubashar Kirmani, general secretary of IEP-SAC, conducted the program. Chief guest Mohammad Sarfraz Khanzada, the acting Pakistani Ambassador to the Kingdom, expressed his appreciation for ‘the positive role played by IEP-SAC in bringing Pakistani engineers together on a unified platform”. “Pakistani engineers have played a vital role in the overall development of Saudi Arabia,” he added. An IEP-SAC shield was presented to Eng. Sattar.
