The National Human Resources Development Scheme run by the General Commission for Tourism and Antiquities has concluded training in the restoration and reparation of historical buildings and leather handicrafts in Taif. General Manager of the scheme Abdullah Bin Suleiman Al-Washail said it was the first time youth in Saudi Arabia had received training in the restoration of historical buildings, and added that courses in traditional leather crafts had also been given to 25 trainees with a view to them working at Taif's famous Okaz Market, one of the most important markets in the Arabian Peninsula of the pre-Islamic era. “Leather products attract tourists from both the Kingdom and abroad,” Al-Washail said. The two training courses were conducted with the collaboration of the Tourism Administration in Taif.
