King calls for ‘Istisqaa' prayers

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz has called for performing Istisqaa (rain-seeking) prayers throughout Saudi Arabia on Monday, April 28, 2008, said a statement issued in Riyadh on Wednesday by the Royal Court.
Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him), used to perform Istisqaa prayers in cases of drought and delay in rainfall.
The Kingdom, and especially its agriculture sector, is suffering due to reduced rainfall this year, driving prices of produce up, which further augmented the inflation problem. __
