Police discovered three large blocks of hashish on Monday after a motorist that refused to stop at a checkpoint near Samta decided to abandon his vehicle and flee on foot. The car was later found to be rented out by a car rental firm. Ten blocks of hashish were found in another vehicle traveling close to the Yemeni border. The hashish was found hidden in bags for babies' nappies. About 1,200 bundles of qat, meanwhile, were found jammed into every available space in a car near the border with Yemen.
