A domestic worker of Asian nationality has been arrested by police in the capital accused of mixing harmful pharmaceutical products with the milk she fed to the baby in her care. The incident came to light when a Saudi man told police of his concerns over his infant child's deteriorating state of health and his suspicions over the involvement of the housemaid in his employment. Tests conducted on the milk with which the child was fed revealed the presence of the substance glibinclamide, used to reduce blood sugar levels in the treatment of diabetics, which had reportedly been dissolved into the milk with crushed tablets.
