Ghufais, Governor of the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC), inaugurated here on Tuesday a four-day exhibition of 100 photographs at Al-Arabia Mall. Graduates of Jeddah's Second Industrial and Vocational Institute, whose photos demonstrate how this fine art can contribute to reflect the image of Saudi culture and development, had their photographic work honored and spoke about their photographs to the hundreds of people who attended the exhibition. Dr. Rashed Al-Zahrani, head of Makkah region's TVTC, said that the exhibition “shows the skills needed in a professional photographer. Trainees have greatly succeeded in capturing images of our culture and lifestyle which should be of great importance to the growing tourism industry”. He added that another advantage of the exhibition is that it provides an opportunity for photographers to view each other's work and to exchange experiences. Photography is one the courses that TVTC offers to its trainees in its Riyadh, Jeddah and Damman institutes. The course includes journalistic and commercial photography skills, portrait, and project photography. The institutes provide the labor market with skilled photographers. Governor Al-Ghufais told Saudi Gazette that he is proud not only of the young photographers but also of those who trained them. “These creative works reflect the strength of programs offered to students in TVTC. The art of photography is important to society, and such exhibitions show that young Saudi men are no less talented than international photographers,” he said. He added that 130 out of 160 photographers who recently graduated in Jeddah got jobs immediately. “Jobs occupied by foreign workers are now ready for Saudis. Therefore we urge all qualified Saudis to apply for these jobs,” he said.
