Badr from Abha won the Okaz Grand Prize – a SR2.2-million residential apartment. Ambassador Muhammad Ahmad Tayyib, Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs branch, broke the news to the winner at a gala function at Okaz headquarters in Jeddah, Tuesday night. The draw for the contest “Men from my country” (Rijaal min Biladi) was completed in the presence of the consuls general of the Arab and Muslim countries and members of the diplomatic corps in Jeddah. In his speech at the start of the ceremony, Ahmed Al-Battah, Supervisor General of Administrative Affairs, valued the presence of the political elite in the grand ceremony for distributing its annual prize. He stressed the effective role of such gathering in consolidating ties. Muhammad Fathi, Dean of the consuls general, lauded the high standard and the distinctive handling of news by Okaz newspaper and all its other publications. He described the publications as rich in content and of a high standard that pleases the Arab national. Fathi lauded the attention Okaz Organization for Press and Publication gives to the members of the diplomatic corps in the Kingdom through continuous interaction and extending the bridges of interaction and meeting with the Arab and Islamic surrounding and upgrading consultation with the consulates accredited to the Kingdom. Participants also watched a documentary film showing the various stages of the development of the organization. Waleed Jameel Kattan, Director General of Okaz Organization for Press and Publication, invited the guests to participate in the draw for the contest. Each consul general drew one letter and of them seven were selected. Then three letters by the contestants were chosen and from these the lucky winner for the Okaz Grand Prize was chosen.
