Published in The Saudi Gazette on 24 - 04 - 2008

Al-Sorayai Trading Industrial Group, one of the Middle East's largest carpet manufacturers and exporters, said that it is ranked the 19th among the largest fifty global carpets and rugs manufacturers list.
Its sales last year surpassed $270 million, according to Belgium “Interconfit ECT,” the specialized company in strategic studies for global carpet industry.
Saleh Al-Sorayai, managing director and deputy chairman of Al-Sorayai Group, said the classification showed the Saudi industry's prestigious standards, especially at the carpet industry. “Thus, it confirms Kingdom's enthusiasm in supporting industrial sectors and providing all facilities to alleviate and develop Saudi industry up to global standards,” he added.
Al-Sorayai Group had played an effective role in Kingdom's global high ranking as the third in carpet industry with over 40 million squared meters.
“This fabulous record reveals the group's long history and uniqueness, especially when we mention the group's companies. Scoring that high rank, we are persuaded to continue our ambitious strategy to raise the group to privileged standards and successes. Moreover, the group's superb and structured management plus the high quality of our products make the group excels in international markets, Al-Sorayai added.
Al-Sorayai Group had provided some Chinese campuses with its Saudi made carpets and rugs, making it as the first national company exporting products to one of the top industrial countries worldwide.
Some of the campuses are main lounges and VIP auditoriums in the stadiums hosting Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, in addition to international airports and lavish renowned international hotels receiving global delegations participating in the upcoming Olympics.
Al-Sorayai Trading & Industrial Group was established in the city of Makkah, Saudi Arabia, around 1950s under the name of Abdullah & Nasser Alsorayai Co.
The group started by importing handmade rugs, and by 1985, the group began their own rugs factory where the company was able to produce and export their products.
In 1992, Al-Sorayai established a new factory to produce high quality carpet with different unique colors and designs.
It received an ISO certificate for its outstanding performance. __
