Zain Saudi Arabia has signed a SR45 million sponsorship contract with the Saudi Arabian Football Federation to sponsor the Saudi Premier League starting next season. Prince Dr. Husam Bin Saud, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Zain Saudi Arabia, also stated that Zain would donate SR2 million to members of the Saudi national football team if it qualifies for the 2010 World Cup for the fifth straight time. He also said that Zain would purchase the tickets for the Saudi Arabia and North Korea match Wednesday. Prince Husam made the announcement at the signing of the sponsorship contract for the Saudi Premier League (SPL) by Zain for a period of five years at a minimum cost of SR30m and a maximum of SR45m annually. Silah Al-Riyadhia will operate the contract and pay the annual share to the SPL commission. Prince Husam said the Saudi Premier League will be named as the Zain tournament next season. He also said that this agreement is a valuable opportunity for Zain to highlight its institutional role towards the government and the people. Prince Nawaf Bin Faisal, Vice President of Youth Welfare and Chairman of the SPL Commission, said this agreement would boost Saudi football and upgrade the general standard of the tournament in the Kingdom.
