seeded Andy Murray lost just five points on his serve in beating Mardy Fish 7-5, 6-3 Friday to reach the semifinals of the Aegon Championships at Queen's Club. Murray never faced a break point against the American, and broke for a 6-5 lead in the first set after Fish netted a forehand volley. Murray broke again to go up 4-3 in the second after Fish netted a backhand, and the Briton sealed the match with a crosscourt winner. Andy Roddick stayed on track for his fifth title at Queen's Club by defeating Ivo Karlovic 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5). The result was a repeat of their 2005 final, also won by Roddick. The second-seeded American had 24 aces and Karlovic 26 in a match that featured few rallies, and there were only two break points. Those came with Roddick leading 6-5 in the second set, but the hard-serving Croat volleyed a winner on the first and hit a drop shot on the second. Roddick next plays No. 6 James Blake after the American dismissed 14th-seeded Russian Mikhail Youzhny 7-6 (5), 6-3. Juan Carlos Ferrero of Spain reached his first career grass-court semifinal when he defeated Steve Darcis of Belgium 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. Ferrero, who has received a wild card to Wimbledon, had failed to advance beyond the quarterfinals on grass on three previous occasions. Sharapova in Aegon semis In Birmingham, Maria Sharapova reached her first semifinal in more than a year Friday after beating Yanina Wickmayer 6-1, 2-6, 6-3 at the Aegon Classic. The former top-ranked Russian struggled with her serve in the second set, but regained her stride in the decider to break her 19-year-old opponent twice for a 5-1 lead. Sharapova has remodeled her serve to protect her shoulder, which required surgery last year and sidelined the Russian for nearly nine months, and she committed 11 double faults in the match. Sharapova next plays Li Na, the former Wimbledon quarterfinalist from China who beat Stefanie Voegele of Switzerland 6-3, 7-6(3). The other semifinal will pit Magdalena Rybarikova of Slovakia against Sania Mirza of India. Sania reached only her second semifinal in two years with a 6-1, 7-6 (4) win over Hungary's Melinda Czink, while Rybarikova beat Urszula Radwanska of Poland 6-3, 6-3. Djokovic beats Melzer In Germany, second-seeded Novak Djokovic overwhelmed Jurgen Melzer 6-1, 6-4 on Friday to reach the semifinals of the Gerry Weber Open. Djokovic will next play qualifier Olivier Rochus of Belgium, who came from a set down to defeat Benjamin Becker of Germany 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-3. Philipp Kohlschreiber, last year's runner-up, also advanced after hitting 17 aces to rally past Andreas Beck 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 in an all-German quarterfinal. Kohlschreiber is the top-ranked German at No. 24. He will next play against veteran Tommy Haas, who won another all-German showdown by beating Mischa Zverev 7-6 (5), 6-2. Kohlschreiber beat Haas in three close sets in the second round here last year in their only previous match.
