Officials have said that problems in the processing of visa applications for Indonesian housemaids have been resolved, with the Saudi embassy in Jakarta currently issuing 2,000 Umrah and work visas per day and airline flights from Indonesia to the Kingdom rising to 24 per week. “More than 110,000 visas have been issued since the beginning of 2009,” said Abdul Aziz Al-Abdullah Al-Raqabi, head of the Saudi embassy's consulate department in Jakarta, noting that the system was now running smoothly well before Ramadan. Al-Raqabi added that the number of documents required from visa applicants had been reduced from nine to three, with further plans to reduce the number to only one document. Visas are being issued on the day of application, he added, if all conditions are fulfilled. Al-Raqabi said the embassy was handling over 600,000 visa applications a year, including 250,000 Haj visas.
