The Health Directorate in Makkah has deducted eight days' pay from the salary of an ambulance driver at Ibn Sina Hospital in Hada for refusing to transport nurses from Makkah to Jeddah. Hospital director Muhammed Al-Habash described driver Ibrahim Al-Lahyani as “disobedient, unpunctual and a troublemaker.” Al-Lahyani defended himself by saying that he was given permission by his manager in charge to take leave to attend to his sick mother. Al-Lahyani also cites his 25 years' experience as an ambulance driver with a clean service record.
