Over 28,000 cases of divorce, revocation of marriage and Khul'a were recorded in 2007 in the Kingdom at a daily rate of 78 cases. Divorce cases constituted the largest proportion with 24,121 cases, or 84 percent, followed by 3,025 marriage revocations, 11 percent, Khul'a with 1,415 cases at 5 percent. The statistics, issued by the Ministry of Justice, showed marriages in 2007 amounted to 13,0451 at 357 marriage contracts per day, of which 86 percent were attested through marriage officials and 14 percent through courts. The report showed the region of Makkah came first in the number of divorces with 29.12 percent and the Northern Frontier Region came last with 1.39 percent.
