An Indonesian woman has been detained by police for throwing boiling oil on her husband causing him 30 degree burns, an act which she told investigators she “did not regret, as after 15 years of marriage he had still not completed the paperwork to make their marriage official.” The woman reportedly heated up the oil in a pot and poured it over her husband when he was asleep in their house in the Al-Kandara District here Monday, causing serious burns to his face and body and leaving him severely disfigured. The man managed to make an emergency telephone call and was taken to hospital where he was admitted to intensive care. Police described the woman as unusually calm following the incident, and reported her as saying that she continued pouring the oil over her husband even as he pleaded her to stop, but that she felt no remorse in getting her revenge on her husband of 15 years, despite having two children by him, and who had in recent times been maltreating her. The man is said to have suffered first and second degree burns to the face, hands, arms and chest.
