four percent of female university graduates in the Kingdom are unemployed, according to a recent study. The study of female unemployment, conducted by Prof. Salwa Abdul Munem of King Faisal University, shows that 82 percent of those aged 20 to 39 are eligible for work, and that unemployment for the total female workforce stands at 26 percent. Unemployment for high school graduates is at 21 percent. The study cites an increase in graduate numbers, graduate unsuitability for labor market requirements, and limited employment opportunities for women as among the major factors contributing to the unemployment rate. Social considerations also represent a factor. Employment opportunities for women are limited to work connected to computers and accounting in banks, light work at factories, as well as administrative and educational positions. The study highlights one positive note, saying that women with master's degrees and doctorates are all employed.
