The Eastern Province Education Department is investigating reports that a school principal repeatedly obliged his more than 500 pupils to kiss his hand. Education Department director Abdul Rahman Al-Mudairis said the department was verifying the information. “We must not rush to judge in the matter, until the reports are verified. The results of the investigation will be announced then,” Al-Mudairis said. The Eastern Province has its own bodies to investigate school issues and order punishments including salary deductions and transfers, and can also recommend dismissals.
