The Netherlands and Saudi Arabia are to organize a major conference on carbon dioxide emissions in Amsterdam in June, Volkskrant newspaper reported on Monday. The government wants the Netherlands to pioneer the technology for the capture and storage of CO2. The country already has five experimental projects, including two which have been given 55 million euros in state subsidies. On top of this, the four new coal-fired power plants approved by the Dutch government must be constructed so that CO2 gasses will be able to be stored on site. __
