A 41-year-old Filipino bank teller died after a speeding car bumped him in Asir Region in Saudi Arabia, ABS-CBN News online said on Wednesday Frederick Romulo Apostol, of Pacita Complex in San Pedro, Laguna. died on the spot from severe head and body injuries, the ABS-CBN News said. The body of Apostol, who was working as a teller at Al-Rajhi Bank, was dragged 20 meters away from the spot where the car hit him. The report said the accident happened on Abha and Khamiz Mushayt national highway but did not say when it occured. The car driver was arrested and detained in Abha, ABS-CBN said. Authorities are still investigating. The report said Apostol met the accident three days before he was to leave for Manila for his annual vacation. Jonjon Malones, one of Apostol's friends, said they initially though that Apostol was robbed, killed and his body dumped along to highway until the police found out in their investigation that he was hit by a speeking car. Apostol became the fifth expatriate and the third Filipino to die in a road accident along the Abha national highway in six months, ABS-CBN said. The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah is preparing for the repatriation of Apostol's remains to the Philippines, ABS-CBN said.
