The Makkah Awards of Excellence were presented to recipients at a function at the Equestrian Club here on Tuesday night. The awards were handed out by Prince Khaled Al Faisal, Emir of Makkah Region. Prince Misha'l Bin Majed Bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Jeddah, and other dignitaries attended the function. One of the winning works was Al-Jamarat Bridge in view of its very distinctive feature in facilitating the movement of pilgrims which was constructed by the Saudi Bin Laden Group under the supervision of the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs. Saudi Aramco's branch in Makkah won the Administrative Award of Excellence for achieving job satisfaction and loyalty of staff. The Award of Excellence in Economy was won by Saleh Abdullah Kamel for the distinctive role of his economic projects' success in the region. The Makkah Award of Excellence for Culture was won by Abdalmqsod Khoja for his role in enriching the cultural activity in the region of Makkah and his contribution to the publishing of many books and literary works. The Makkah Award of Excellence for Social Work was awarded to the Mohamed Abdul Latif Jameel Project for the provision of a model social project called “Bab Rizq Jameel”. The Makkah Award of Excellence for Urban Development was won by the Municipality of Jeddah and Dar Al-Arkan Establishment for the Project of Development of Khuzam Palace. The Makkah Award of Excellence in its Environmental Division was awarded to Abdulrahman Abdulqadir Faqih for the Arafat Afforestation Project The Last Division of Makkah Award of Excellence for scientific and technical excellence was won by Dr. Samira Islam for her research and studies relating to the safe use of medication in Saudi Arabia and the impact and effects of medication on Saudis.
