The Appeals Court has upheld a decision by Jeddah's District Court to dismiss a case brought by a woman against her husband accusing him of beating her. The woman approached the police claiming that her husband had beaten her, and the case was passed on to the Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution and in turn to the District Court following investigations. The District Court, however, ruled that the man was within his right to hit his wife according to the law, a ruling that was appealed by the lady at the Appeals Court. The Appeals Court studied the case and upheld the District Court verdict that the man should not be punished, which means that the case is now closed.
