A teacher has been transferred to another school and had five days' pay deducted from his salary for beating a primary school pupil. The pupil at a school in the west of the Afif region was reportedly struck hard enough to require attention from Afif General Hospital. The Ministry of Education had previously issued a circular to all education administrations warning that punishments involving physical contact with the hands or pulling hair or expelling pupils from classrooms and forcing them to stand in school corridors was prohibited. The directive added that all forms of corporal punishment were banned.
