The Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice seized six boxes of locally distilled alcohol bottles hidden in a car registered to a Southeast Asian national in Rawada district, one of Jeddah's elite neighborhoods. When the suspect's house was searched, 35 liquor barrels were found and destroyed by the Commission. The man admitted the offense. Two of his accomplices from the same nationality were also arrested and charged with making alcohol. During the interrogations, the dealer said he rented a full floor in an apartment building for SR20,000 a year and a luxury car to deliver alcohol, trying to steer away from suspicion. But a big apartment and a luxury car for a working expat seemed to raise red flags as the majority of expatriates on work visa are classified as low income earners. He also said he had targeted classy districts because they wouldn't raise police suspicions. Financially, it seems to have paid off for a little while. The man said he would net SR3,000 a day dealing in alcohol. The three expatriates were taken to Al-Salamah Police, north Jeddah. Shiekh Ahmad Al-Qasim, Director of the Commission's branch in Makkah, and Sheikh Ali Aal Hayyan, Director of Jeddah's branch, followed up the bust. - Okaz __
