The Ministry of Municipalities and Rural Affairs is finishing up within two months a feasibility study of the implementation of a monorail system connecting the holy sites Makkah, Mina, Muzdalifah, and Arafat. The monorail system is expected to have a huge capacity of 60,000-90,000 passengers per hour, a source at the consulting company studying the project said. The project cost is believed to top SR4b. If approved, the monorail system will be up and running for the next Haj season, operated by a private company. The monorail would use public right of ways with no tunneling necessary – and wouldn't close streets during construction. – Okaz __
