Japan suffered two nuclear blows at the end of the war. The Americans bombed the cities of Hiroshima on 6 August, 1945 and Nagasaki three days later, killing hundreds of thousands. On August 15, Japan announced that it will surrender to the US, which practically ended the hostilities in the Pacific. __
