In its bid to educate and entertain over 700 visitors, Dar Al-Hekma College organized a one-day exhibition Wednesday at the Red Sea Mall in Jeddah that showcased the beauty and exoticism of Brazil. The exhibition was an in-depth exploration of Brazil's geography, education, sports, culture and tradition, population, government, industry, tourism, cities, agriculture and arts. “Exhibitions are a great way to learn about something new,” said Dr. Chaman Rahim, instructor and coordinator of the exhibition. “Brazil was chosen in particular because it is a country that not many people know about. If something grabs your attention in an exhibition booth you will want to know more about it and then you pass the information along.” Sixty-two students, who were part of the People and the Environment General Education course, participated in putting together colorful booths. The students were divided into groups and after deciding that Brazil would be the theme of the exhibition, each group was delegated with the task of coming up with research material. “Projects like these help in establishing team work, tolerance, patience and willingness to lend a hand,” said Dr. Rahim. “What is great about such projects is that students are given the opportunity to work with what they are good at or are interested in doing,” said Razan Rayes, a member of the Art and Artists of Brazil booth. She added that the feedback and encouragement they got made them look forward to taking part in future exhibitions.
