Lufthansa commemorates four decades of presence in Saudi Arabia sealing its commitment to stay strong to help boost travel and intensify bilateral relations between Germany and Saudi Arabia with increased flights. During the celebration held at the Hilton Jeddah today, Joachim Steinbach, Lufthansa's vice president, Sales and Services for Southeast Europe, Africa & Middle East/Pakistan, said: “It's a remarkable milestone for us to reach 40 years of uninterrupted services in the Kingdom. Lufthansa and Saudi Arabia share a long standing and successful partnership in our joint venture to promote travel and strengthen our relationships.” “From one flight a week in 1969, Lufthansa expanded its route network over the years. In fact, beginning of the 2009 summer schedule, Lufthansa doubled its capacity from Saudi Arabia. Lufthansa now offers daily flights from Riyadh and Jeddah while SWISS flies four times a week and continues to offer three frequencies from Dammam and four from Bahrain. In addition, the airline will operate for the month of July and August three extra weekly additional daytime non-stop flights with an all exclusive Business Class jet, leaving Dammam at 08:00 in the morning on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday. Both Lufthansa and SWISS, operating a total of 29 flights from Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, are the only European carriers which jointly connect all major gateways in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam and in Bahrain. All flights operate with a three-class onboard service. Our passengers benefit greatly in terms of connectivity through our hubs in Frankfurt and Zurich with excellent connections to destinations in Europe and the US.” Rolf Koller, general manager, Lufthansa/ SWISS, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, said: “We are proud to have been in Saudi Arabia this long and look forward to more fruitful years ahead. As for our operations, we continue to anticipate a healthy growth in air traffic demand between KSA, Germany and Switzerland.” Lufthansa and SWISS brought all their options “under one roof” at the hubs in Frankfurt, Munich and Zurich benefiting passengers from a combinable price structure. Apart from the price, passengers are assured of a wide network which translates to more choices, good products, trusted brand, fleet of modern aircraft and an exceptional frequent flyer program. Both airlines focus on customers' demands. Lufthansa passengers who also want to take advantage of its integration with Swiss International Air Lines find comfort and luxury with SWISS's products be it First, Business or Economy class.
