Huqail, President of the Saudi Railways Organization (SRO), has said that recent statistics show a significant rise in the number of passengers using the Kingdom's trains to travel during vacations and official holidays. Al-Huqail said that just under 51,000 passengers passed through the country's railway stations during the recent 10-day mid-term vacation, a rate of over 5,000 passengers per day. The figures, Al-Huqail said, confirm the Kingdom's railways as one of the most important contributing factors in the success of the domestic tourism program. The SRO sees its role as a major partner for the Higher Commission for Tourism and Antiquities in the promotion of tourism through a variety of activities.
