Fayez, Minister of Civil Service, is scheduled to appear before the Shoura Council to respond to questions on the destiny of over 147,000 public sector job openings that remain to be filled and 69,000 positions occupied by foreigners. Al-Fayez may also be asked to explain the details of the new salary scale for lecturers and assistant lecturers in higher education and the civil servant pay scale. The minister is to brief Shoura members on the difficulties posed by the lack of information on job openings in some government sectors, and is set to discuss a Council proposal to submit a bi-annual report to the King containing the names of government bodies overseeing civil service employment regulations which fail to coordinate with the ministry. Fahad Al-Hamad, Head of the Human Resources and Petitions Committee at the Shoura Council, said the Al-Fayez's appearance before the Council marked a unique opportunity for members to clarify certain issues, the most notable of which is the committee's recommendation concerning employees working in positions different to those for which they were appointed.
