Worshippers on their way to a mosque for dawn prayer on Monday noticed a fire in a nearby school and rushed into the building to try and contain the blaze and save what they could of school property. According to education authorities the prayer-goers managed to stop the fire spreading and limited damage to furniture and administrative files of which the authorities have copies on computer files. The fire at the school some 150 km to the south of the town of Sakaka, was reportedly started by a short circuit.
