Several doctors, experts and specialists in the field of children and maternity issues will be participating in a conference under the theme “Fetal Heart Assessment during Routine Antenatal Ultrasound Examination” here on Wednesday. The conference, to be patronized by Dr. Sami Badawood, Director of Health Affairs Management in Jeddah, is being organized by Al-Azizia Government Hospital for Maternity and Children. “The conference aims to provide an accurate diagnosis of heart defects during routine examination of the heart of the fetus and this includes the diagnosis of structural heart defects and dysfunction and disruption of the rhythm of the heart,” said Dr. Yasser Bin Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, Director of Al-Azizia Hospital. According to Al-Ghamdi, the conference will highlight the importance of the early diagnosis of fetal anomalies in the heart by having a routine examination of the fetus. The conference will provide all information about the test, which will help in the early detection of genetic diseases and congenital heart defects. That way disease and defects can be treated before birth or immediately after birth either through surgery or by medication. Several speakers will participate in the one-day conference.
